What gym excercises can you do strengthen the neck, shoulders, back, thighs & knees without building body bulk. These are the areas i hear people have trouble with so i want to strenghten these areas before i start having problems. And preferably things you dont actually need ot go to the gym for but you know using dumb bells, bar bell ets. thanks all

Combat Conditioning,
Fluidity Training,

there are heaps of different ideas and concepts out there, I am currently using Rickson Gracies routine to condition the body and also increase my cardio.

Its a great workout

If u wanna do it in the gym do the 3 major powerlifting exercises plus maybe military presses for ur shoulders and keep the reps low and weights high this will increase your maximum strength as well as tendon size and strength and bone density but wont bulk u up as much because incorporating type 2 musclefibres which dont hypertrophy (grow) as much compared to higher rep bodybuilding type exercises. even tho some say maximal strength isnt as important as power during wrestling i think it is important cos a big part of bjj seems to be overcoming inertia (satic resistance) such as a guy holding onto his arm or a guys base wen u go to sweep or bridge.

Neck seems to get strong enough just from wrestling i fink Thinking

fluidity training is the series of warm ups and exercises that Rickson Gracie used (still uses) to keep in shape and conditioned.

If you google Rickson Gracie and Fluidity training you get a few different websites and info on it, but what I am using is a dvd of his training and such that one of his students made. His student travelled with Rickson and copied the exercises - it even has clips of Rickson using them as a warm up

And most importantly, you aren't going to bulk unless you're eating above your maintenance level anyway. Lifting in itself isn't going to make you huge, it's a combination of lifting, caloric excess and diet management.
