A special thanks to Adam Metcalf (The Academy), Troy Flugge (The Sub Factory) and from my early BJJ days Soa Palelei (Team Soa) and Marino Gale all who have helped me with my journey in BJJ and my tinkering in MMA.

About me.
For a while I did bits and pieces of various Martial Arts on an ad hoc basis. It wasn't until 1993 that I finally settled into training seriously. For about 18 months I practiced Kick Boxing with Katana Martial Arts (KMA) then got heavily involved with Wing Chun Kung Fu, first with the William Cheung system as taught by Rick Spain and then the Wong Shuen Leung system as taught by Rolf Clausnitzer and then Micheal Ho. During the years of 1994 to 1996 I competed in the National All Styles competition circuit and represented Western Australia at The Melbourne (1995) and The Perth (1996) National Titles.

I started Brazilian Jui Jitsu with Soa Palelei with the aim of adding grappling to my stand up game, but found that I enjoyed it so much that it became my main focus. I later started training with Adam Metcalf as Adam was closer to where I work and Soa's main drive was toward MMA whilst mine was towards BJJ.

From 2002 to early 2005 I competed in just about every local BJJ competition (about 15). I also fought in the 2002, 2003 & 2004 Machado National Titles in Melbourne. Recently I have slowed down training as a whole as commitments at work and home take up more valuable time.

I hope you enjoy this site,

Train Hard & Train Safe

Regards,

Dave
